38 Week Appointment

On Tuesday, I had my 38 week appointment. I got what was most likely my final ultrasound to make sure that everything is a go. I am happy to report that everything looked great. The baby was measuring 6 pounds 9 ounces, which was right about average. His approximate head size was in the 60th percentile, and the heartbeat was normal. Also, Baby Maltz is still a boy...yes, I had to ask one more time.

As for me, I am dilated to 1 and a half centimeters and am 80% effaced. The doctor also told me she was able to feel the top of the baby's head, which freaked me out a little. She doesn't think I'll go past my due date, but really who knows... I still haven't been feeling definite contractions. I do feel my stomach tightening up on occasion, but nothing painful or rhythmic.

Here is the most recent picture of "the Bean." Since he is so big now, it is hard to get a good shot. In the picture, you can see the outline of his head, his nose, and his right eye. His hands are covering the bottom of his face.
