For a couple of years now, my mom and I have been taking my nephew Joshua on an annual summer "mini-vacation." The requirements for our destination are that it is not more than a couple of hours in the car, and we can stay at a hotel with a swimming pool. Two years ago, we went to Donnley's Wild West Town and the Railway Museum in Union, IL. Last year, we went to the Renaissance Fair and the Jelly Belly Factory near the IL/WI border.
This year, our trip was extra special because we got to bring Logan. We decided to visit Rockford, and go to their Discovery Children's Museum, which is one of the top ten in the country. It was awesome! There were two levels of exhibits as well as a huge outdoor area. We also had fun going out for some yummy food, swimming in the pool, hanging out in the hotel room, and playing at the nickel arcade.
Some museum fun...

Logan had a great time swimming with his cousin Josh. He was splashing around and screaming with joy...

We had such good luck with restaurants during our trip. All the food was delish and we even enjoyed some 99 cent shakes. Mmmm...

We had a great couple of days together. Both the boys were such troopers the entire time! Now, where to go next year...
